Type Locality: | ---------- (*) The name Atractaspis bibronii appears in the caption of the plate 71. Unfortunately, in the text to the plate, the author inadvertently used the name Atractaspis inornatus, but stated clearly that the species was named in honour of G. Bibron. Duméril et al. (1854, Erpét., 7 (2): 1304, footnote) acted as first reviewers, and considered that the valid name was Atractaspis bibronii (see Broadley, 1991, Arnoldia, 9 (36): 495). The nominal taxon Atractaspis inornatus is therefore unavailable (David & Ineich, 1999, Dumerilia, 3: 19) |
