Zool., 95: 425 ----------- The first type species designation for Epicauta Dejean is that of Duponchel (1844, in d’Orbigny, Dict. univ. hist. nat., 5: 356) who selected Lytta gigas Fabricius, 1792 (= Cantharis gigas Olivier, 1790), one of the species originally included in the genus. This species is currently included in the genus Cyaneolytta Péringuey, 1909 (e.g., Selander, 1986, Trans. Amer. ent. Soc., 112: 103) and its acceptance would bring significant nomenclatural changes. A request to the Commission is necessary to set aside Duponchel’s designation (Bousquet & Bouchard, 2013, ZooKeys, 282: 62) |
